Registration
When arriving and staying in Denmark for more than 90 days you need to register with the Danish authorities to obtain a Social Security number (CPR number). This is an important step to get involved in and function in Danish society. Once you have this in order you have the same right to national health service treatment as Danish citizens.
You will also need to register your address with a GP and with the tax authorities.
The process is different whether you are a Nordic citizen, a EU/EEA-citizen or a non-EU/EEA-citizen.
Residence and work permit
Assistance with the process of getting a work and residence permit for non-EU / EEA-citizens.
If you wish to accept employment in Denmark you need to apply for a residence and work permit. Accompanying family members are also required to hold residence permits.
Children – daycare and schools
We have kids as well and one of the biggest concerns is that they are happy and in a good place. In Denmark many kids from 1 year to 6 years old are in some form of care during the day while the parents work.
School starts the year the child turns 6 and goes from year zero (børnehaveklasse/kindergarten class) to ninth or tenth grade. After, most Danish children attend a two to three year higher education that allows them to attend university etc.
We will help provide an overview of the different options for daycare and schools, waiting lists and help you understand and fill out the forms and applications.
Settling in
This involves some of the essential things necessary for a good start in a new country. Opening a bank account. Getting an overview of the different packages available for Internet and phone and subscribing to the most suitable one for you. Setting you up for Digital post, finding helpful apps and getting you all set for using public transport.
Welcome and tour of your new city
When you have arrived and are settled into your new home a tour of Aarhus is a brilliant way to get acquainted with your new city. We will show you specific interest points and your local area – where to easily do your grocery shopping, how to get around, where to go for a good night out or where to go for a fun time with the kids. Weather permitting, this tour will be done by bike – the Danish way and how to best get around most Danish cities.

Contact service
When arriving in a new city – and especially in a new country – there are always loads of questions. “How do I go about this?”, “Where do I find that”, “What does this mean?”. Most of these questions can be answered during normal office hours but sometimes something happens that cannot really wait for example “my child is not feeling well, where do I go and who do I call?”. In these situations it is reassuring to have a helpline available and no matter your conundrum we will do our very best to help.
Insurance
If you are staying less than 90 days it is not mandatory to register with the Danish authorities but in that case you will need all private insurances.
When you have a Social Security number you are covered by the national Danish healthcare system. Most Danes have private insurance policies as well covering accidents, unemployment, their home contents, pets and travels. There is a mandatory third-party liability insurance if you own a vehicle or if you own a dog. Furthermore, it is compulsory to have a home-owner insurance if you own a house.
Pets
Bringing your pet to Denmark can be a complicated task. It involves vaccinations before entering the country, paperwork and can be a costly affair. Finding accommodation where pets are allowed is of course possible but (as in many other cities) difficult in Aarhus and it will limit the options considerably. We will help and guide you through the process. You will need a mandatory third-party liability insurance when owning a dog. You will need home contents insurance to cover other animals. Pet sitters and dog walkers are not as frequently used in Denmark as in certain other countries but it is available in Aarhus and we are ready to help you find what you require to fit your needs.
Other services
Language training – signing up for classes or helping you find a private tutor, car rental, moving, etc. We are ready to assist you with a large palette of services. If you come across an obstacle that is not mentioned in our overview, please ask and we will do our very best to find a solution or guide you in the right direction.
Departure
Leaving a country sometimes requires almost as many arrangements as arriving! Deregistering from the national register, notifying the tax authorities, notifying your bank, terminating the lease contract, moving out report…the list goes on! We take care of every step of your departure or you can pick and mix components from our services that suit to your needs.
